when

"You
are anti-choice, because you want to take away
from women the choice whether or not to have children." |
|
Maybe
you are just anit-life? The only choice that separates
you and I is the "choice" to kill a child
who is located in the womb. Shouldn't you call yourself
pro-abortion rather than the misleading term pro-choice?
No one is telling you whether or not to have children.
All I ask is that you do not kill your children once
they are conceived. Half the women you want the choice
to kill are female. Killing them takes away "their"
choice to live.

"I'm
not pro-abortion. No one is for abortion. No one
likes abortion. I'm pro-choice." |
|
It's
very strange that we're talking about abortion and
you don't seem to like to use the actual "a"
word: abortion. What's wrong with abortion that so
many people don't like it? Why don't you personally
like abortion?

Don't
like abortion, don't have one. |
That is equivalent to saying:
Don't like cancer, don't help cancer patients. |

when

you

"The
real issue here is not abortion, but who decides.
Will it be the government, or each individual
woman for herself?" |
|
Who
decides? I say let the unborn child decide. "Who
decides" is a very catchy slogan; it may sound
good to many. However, "who decides" ignores
the main issue before us, which is abortion. "Who
decides" denies the fact that in every abortion,
a beating heart is stopped.

"A
woman should have a right to control her own body.
A woman should have a right to reproductive freedom."
|
|
I
agree with that completely. (As a woman), I feel very
strongly that a woman has a right to her own body
and control over it. No one's arguing that. But the
body that is destroyed in an abortion is not her body
but someone else's. Abortion involves two individuals
- the mother and the unborn children. Both lives need
to be considered.

"What
are you going to do with the millions of babies
born when abortion is made illegal?"
|
|
First,
it will be wonderful when those babies won't be killed
by abortion! In reality, we know there won't be as
many babies born as there are babies aborted-- currently
about 1.6 million per year. That's because just about
half of all abortions are performed as a primary means
of birth control. Also, two million couples are waiting
now to adopt a baby, and that number would certainly
grow if there were more babies available for adoption.

"How
can you force a poor woman to bear a child she
doesn't want and can't afford, probably ensuring
that the child will grow up unwanted and unloved
in poverty?" |
|
I'm
outraged by the assumption behind your question, which
is that a child would be better off dead than to grow
up in poverty or unwanted. I think that poor children
have just as much of a right-to-life as middle class
or wealthy children, don't you? Killing is not a compassionate
solution to social problems.

"What
is your reaction to this poll showing that most
Americans support a woman's "right to choose?"
|
|
The
poll question doesn't address the abortion issue,
again proving that poll results all depend on how
the question is asked. Whenever the question is about
abortion, though, polls show that most Americans oppose
the vast majority of abortions.

"If
you succeed in outlawing abortion, won't women
just die if they have to resort to illegal abortions
at the hands of back-alley butchers?"
|
|
I
don't believe in abortion, legal or illegal. And I'll
work with abortion advocates to put those back-alley
butchers out of business, because I think every abortion
not only stops a beating heart, but exploits and hurts
a woman.

"You're
just pro-birth. You don't care about the children
after they are born." |
|
I
don't mind being called pro-birth, if you agree to
be called "anti-birth." In reality, your
claim that we only care about unborn children is completely
untrue. Around the country, people work at thousands
of abortion alternatives centers to give women the
help they need to carry their children to term and
afterwards. Plus there is millions of couples waiting
to adopt.

you

"How
can you say that a rape or incest victim should
be further victimized by being forced to bear
the child of her attacker?" |
|
Rape
and incest are terrible crimes, and the men who commit
these crimes should be punished to the fullest extent
of the law. Thankfully, pregnancy resulting from rape
or incest is extremely rare; statistics show that
less than 1 percent of women getting abortions were
victims of rape and incest. Still, aborting a child
does not take away the crime. And I believe that the
unborn children as well as the hundreds of children
and adults alive who were conceived as a result of
rape or incest have just as much of a right-to-life
as you or I do.

when
they say...... |
you

"Don't
you think young women are able to make these decisions
for themselves, without parental involvement?"
|
|
A
teenager in a crisis pregnancy certainly needs some
guidance, someone to talk it over with, because abortion
is an irrevocable, life and death decision. Who is
better to guide and advise a young woman in a crisis
pregnancy? Surely it is the parents who raised and
love that teenager, and not the abortionist who has
a financial stake in the abortion.
